How hard is it to be well?

Joanne Spence has gone through her fair share of life’s ups and downs. She immigrated twice. Her first career in social work was in child protection and the juvenile justice system. Then after a serious car accident in her 30s she learned about the healing power of yoga. After 20+ years of practicing and teaching yoga, she has decided to write about her process of becoming well and to help guide you in your own healing journey.

The thing is, as much as she loves writing - and is doing doctoral work in creative writing and public theology so she can get better at it - her hope is that you will implement some of the simple practices she makes accessible to anyone who wants to try. Whether it is a yoga pose, a breathing exercise, or perhaps a new way to pray (if that’s your thing), it can take decades to learn to care for yourself in a way that allows for thriving.

Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and website. You’ll have some company for your journey. You’ll learn new and old practices that will sustain you for the long haul. And even have some fun along the way. There will be video practices and live opportunities to take a class. There’s even poetry. And just because she can’t help herself, you may even get a recipe or two. Because who doesn’t love to get a new recipe (along with a poem or two)?
